Timo's involvement with the film music for C.S. Lewis's classic Narnia tales continued with two live performances in Denver May 18th and 19th, 2007. He was one of the five soloists featured in Colorado Symphony Orchestra's live rendition of Harry Gregson-Williams' Grand Orchestral Suite from the Lion, the Witch and Wardrobe, the first film of Disney's Narnia movies. The suite was conducted by the composer Harry Gregson-Williams himself.
Timon uppoutuminen Narnian filmimusiikkiin jatkui kahdella konsertilla Denverissä 18. ja 19. toukokuuta 2007. Säveltäjä Harry Gregson-Williams on laatinut orkesterisarjan Disneyn Narnia-elokuvaan säveltämästään musiikista. Timo soitti kanteletta yhtenä Coloradon sinfoniaorkesterin viidestä vierailijasta orkesterisarjan kantaesityksessä säveltäjän itsensä johtaessa.
Timo, together with another kantele player Vilma Timonen, played electric kantele in the 52nd Eurovision Song Contest semifinal, broadcasted live worldwide. Their performance was part of the intermission dance show during the counting of the semifinal votes. The show was called "A battle for love under the midnight sun" and it was inspired by the Kalevala, the Finnish national epic. The show was a production of the Tsuumi Dance Company, and also featured quitarist Marzi Nyman and opera soprano Johanna Rusanen. The music was composed by Hannu Kella and featured a minute-long kantele solo by Timo and Vilma.
Timo soitti sähkökanteletta Euroviisujen semifinaalissa yhdessä Vilma Timosen, toisen kantelemuusikon kanssa. Esiintyminen oli osa 52. euroviisujen semifinaalin väliohjelmaa, jonka aikana laskettiin annetut äänet. Tanssiryhmä Tsuumin tuottaman Kalevalaishenkisen esityksen nimi oli "Pohjan pidot" ja se televisioitiin suorana ympäri maailmaa. Tanssijoiden lisäksi mukana olivat myös kitaristi Marzi Nyman ja oopperasopraano Johanna Rusanen. Esityksen musiikin oli säveltänyt Hannu Kella. Timo ja Vilma soittivat esityksessä minuutin mittaisen soolo-osuuden.
Loituma, a band Timo is a member of, released their first CD in 1995. Now, eleven years later, the most popular track of the CD, an acappella song called Ieva's Polka, has become a spontaneous internet hit. The popularity started from a flash animation in Russia. The Loituma video available at TVfolk.net or You Tube has been viewed by at least hudreds of thousands, probably more than a million people from all over the world. Dozens if not hudreds of remixes and video clips made by enthusiasts can be found from the internet. Ieva's Polka has also been licensed to several countries. There is also a Wikipedia article of the band in several languages.
Both American releases of Loituma CD:s can be found from Amazon or NorthSide, Loituma's American publisher. If you happen to be in Minneapolis in the end of September, Loituma will be performing live in the Nordic Roots Festival. And here is a fresh picture of the band.
Yksitoista vuotta Loituman ensilevyn jälkeen Ievan polkka on noussut yllätten internet-hitiksi. Kansanmusiikiksi paljon radiosoittoa Suomessakin saanut acapella-kappale nousi uuteen suosioon, kun joku käytti sitä animaatiopätkän taustamusiikkina. Loituman videon, jota näyttävät TVfolk.net ja You Tube on katsonut luultavasti yli miljoona ihmistä ympäri maailmaa. Internetistä löytyy kymmeniä ellei satoja remiksejä ja fanivideoita Ievan polkasta, joka on myös lisenssoitu useisiin maihin. Wikipediaan on tehty artikkeleita Loitumasta monilla kielillä.
Loituman levyjen suomalaisia versioita voi tiedustella Kansanmusiikki-instituutista. Amerikkalaisia versioita levyistä myyvät ainakin Amazon ja Loituman amerikkalainen julkaisija NorthSide. People became fascinated by the music and within a week two thousand people has visited this site looking for more information. TVfolk.net, a Swedish site hosting a video of Loituma performing Ieva's Polka, drew way over 10 000 people in a couple of days. There is also a cool remix out there on the wild, wild web, hosted on the site of Emplosia, a Russian electro-synth band.

Kansanmusiikiksi paljon radiosoittoa Suomessa saanut acapella-kappale nousi uuteen suosioon, kun joku käytti sitä animaatiopätkän taustamusiikkina. Ihmisten kiinnostuttua musiikista Timon kotisivuilla on käynyt viikossa yli kaksi tuhatta vierailijaa etsimässä lisätietoa Loitumasta. TVfolk.net, ruotsalainen sivusto jossa on video Loitumasta esittämässä Ievan polkkaa, sai muutamassa päivässä yli 10 000 kävijää. Timo's third solo CD has been released. It is called Musiikkia (Music in Finnish) and is played with electric kantele. In addition to that, Timo has teamed with two other kantele players, Matti Kontio and old master player Toivo Alaspää to record Wooden Heart, a cd full of traditional dance tunes and evergreens. Timo Väänänen plays kantele as a featured musician in the Disney movie The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe based on the Narnia books of C.S. Lewis. In the summer of 2005 the movie composer Harry Gregson-Williams contacted Timo. He had been looking for an instrument fitting for the wintery theme of the movie and liked the clear, chilly sound of kantele. The kantele recordings for various scenes of the movie were made in Inkoon musiikki, a Finnish studio specialised in kantele during the summer and autumn 2005. The world premiere of the movie was in London the 7th of December, 2005. In Finland the premiere date is December 23rd.
Timo Väänänen soittaa vierailevana solistina kanteletta Disneyn ensimmäisessä C.S. Lewisin kirjoihin perustuvassa Narnia-elokuvassa Velho ja Leijona. Kesällä 2005 elokuvan musiikista vastaava säveltäjä Harry Gregson-Williams otti yhteyttä Timoon. Hän oli etsinyt elokuvan talviseen aiheeseen sopivaa soitinta ja piti kanteleen kirkkaasta ja heleästä soinnista. Äänityksiä elokuvan eri kohtauksiin tehtiin Inkoon musiikin studiossa useampaan otteeseen kesän ja syksyn aikana. Elokuvan Suomen ensi-ilta on 23.12.2005.
